Rayna Royer Rocks!

Hooray for hometown talent!!

Tuesday on the Lyrical Venus Radio Hour I’ll be interviewing Fairfield’s Rayna Royer. The 22 year old singer-songwriter is graduating from Indian Hills this spring. She learned guitar chords from her friend Nik Sorak of Nik Sorak and the Dead Wait, and Troy Morgan of she swings, she sways backed her up on bass for those tracks you can hear on her MySpace page. (and both of those guys are in awesome SE Iowa bands, check ’em out.) Rayna just joined MySpace as a musician a little over a month ago, but she’s already got Irish singer-songwriter Amy McGarrigle commenting that Rayna’s music reminds her of a cross between the main song from Juno and Laura Veirs. Rayna is even going to bring her guitar in because she has new stuff to play for us! Looking forward to it.

Tune in Tuesday at 9am Central – KRUU-LP 100.1 FM here in town, and kruufm.com online anywhere!

If you miss the show, it will be rebroadcast Friday at 3am Central, and for the locals, Rayna is going to be performing a short set live in the Gazebo on the square during the ArtWalk on Friday night from 6:50 – 7:10. (If it rains, it’ll be in the Old Armory at the corner of Broadway and B. And I hear Rock Paper Scissors are supposed to be playing too.)

Just found your blog and from what I see so far I love it. I have a blog called Voices to hear, where I try and push deserving but not well known musicians. Have you heard Theresa Anderson, Susan Cowsill or Shannon McNally? These are three of my favorite performers, never mind being three of my favorite female performers.
